Plastic cable stops (end-stops) are intact and the control knobs operate smoothly with reliable detents. The electrical connector for the A/C pushbutton and illumination is intact and ready to plug in. Please note: the control cables (bowdens) themselves are NOT included in the delivery.
Function And Common Failures
The panel mechanically operates temperature blend doors, vent selection flaps and the A/C on/off command via Bowden cables. Common faults on these models include broken plastic stops, weakened or seized control cables and worn detents, which lead to stiff operation, inability to change vent direction or loss of temperature control. Replacing the complete panel is a reliable way to restore precise, smooth control when individual cables or mounts are failing.
Installation Tips
Access is through the center dashboard trim. Remove the radio/vent frame, undo the fasteners holding the control panel, disconnect the electrical connector and release the cable clips. When refitting, set the levers and doors to their extreme positions (e.g. full cold and front vent) before attaching the cables so the travel and stops align correctly. Ensure all cable clips are seated and cables are not kinked. Check operation of each control and the A/C switch before refitting trim panels.
