Overview
Original Bosch MEV17.4 engine control unit (ECU) intended for PSA 1.4 VTi petrol engines. This used unit from dismantling corresponds to OEM part numbers listed below and is a direct replacement option when the original ECU fails or when replacing the engine wiring harness. The MEV17.4 ECU regulates fuel injection, ignition, throttle control and variable cam timing to ensure smooth running, reliable cold starts and low emissions.
Compatibility
Commonly fitted to selected Citroën and Peugeot models, for example Citroën C4 II and Peugeot 308 (T7) equipped with the 1.4 VTi (approximately 70 kW). Symptoms Of A Faulty ECU
Typical failure signs include irregular idle, engine misfires or ignition dropouts, CAN communication fault codes, sensor power-circuit issues and failure to start. On many PSA vehicles the ECU is linked to the immobiliser (BSI and transponder key), so an unpaired unit will prevent the engine from starting.
Installation & Pairing
The ECU is usually mounted in the engine compartment near the battery or BSM. Replacement procedure: disconnect the battery, remove the ECU mounting hardware, unplug the multi-pin connectors and fit the replacement in reverse order. After physical installation the ECU must be either cloned from the original unit or correctly programmed with suitable diagnostic equipment to match VIN and immobiliser coding; without this step the vehicle will not start.
