Overview
This electric central locking actuator is designed for the right rear door of the Citroën C4 5-door. It operates the latch and release mechanism to restore reliable central locking and remote locking functions. Suitable for professional mechanics and DIY enthusiasts when replacing a failed door lock unit.
Features
- Direct replacement for original PSA part numbers.
- Restores central locking and manual opening/closing functions.
- Compact electric motor with integrated gearing and linkage attachment.
Replacement Guide
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent short circuits.
- Remove the inner door trim and moisture barrier to access the lock area.
- Unplug the electrical connector and detach the linkage rods from the actuator.
- Remove mounting screws and withdraw the old actuator from the door shell.
- Install the new actuator, reconnect linkage rods and electrical connector, then test before reassembling trim.
Why It Fails
Common causes of failure include motor wear, stripped internal plastic gears, water ingress and corrosion, seized linkages, and electrical connector faults. Failures are more likely in high-mileage vehicles or those exposed to moisture and road salt.
Typical Lifespan
Actual lifespan depends on use and environment. Many units last several years; failures often occur after extended use (commonly 8–15 years or beyond 100,000 km), but this can vary.
Compatibility
Designed for Citroën C4 5-door. Also listed under PSA Citroën/Peugeot part groups — always verify fitment with part numbers before ordering.
