Follow vehicle manufacturer’s torque specifications for mounting bolts.

Common Failure Modes

Alternator faults usually result from worn brushes or slip rings, bearing failure, a faulty voltage regulator, overheating or contamination, and accessory belt problems. Service life depends on driving conditions and usage but alternators on these small petrol units commonly require replacement after approximately 100,000–150,000 km under normal conditions.
