Installation recommendations
Generally/typically, for the replacement of the inner door handle, it is valid that work is carried out by dismantling the inner upholstery of the door and then reconnecting the pull rod/cable of the lock (the specific design may vary depending on the equipment and version of the door).
1) Before assembly
- Compare the new part with the old one: the shape of the handle, the attachment, the position of the holes, the design of the cover and the presence of the screw cap.
- Check for a cracked cover, broken latches or damaged seating surfaces.
- Verify that the part/packaging codes (eg 9641315777, 9143H9) match your original part.
2) Necessary tools and materials
- Set of screwdrivers and bits (common types for interior parts)
- Plastic pry bar for removing upholstery (trim tool)
- Small pliers (for handling tie rods/fuses)
- Cleaning agent and cloth (for contact surfaces)
3) Step-by-step assembly procedure
- Turn off the ignition and prepare your workspace by the back door.
- Carefully dismantle the inner covers/slats in the place of the upholstery handles (depending on the door model).
- Unscrew the door trim fasteners and release the trim with a plastic pry bar.
- Lift the upholstery from the top edge and disconnect any connectors (if there are elements fitted in the door).
- Locate the inner crank mount and remove the crank cover (if separate) to access the screw/fastener.
- Unfasten the handle and slide the handle out of its housing.
- Disconnect the tie rod or the cable guide leading to the lock – do it carefully so as not to break the plastic fuses.
- Connect the tie rod/cable guide to the new crank in the same routing and position as on the original part.
- Place the handle in the door, check the fit and secure it with the fastening.
- Put on the inner cover and the screw cover (if it is part of the assembly in the given design).
- Before installing the upholstery, test the function of the handle (opening the door) with several repetitions.
- Reinstall the door trim, connect the connectors and push the clips back into their original positions.
-
4) Post-assembly checks and test drive/function verification
- Verify the smooth operation of the handle and sure opening of the door without stuttering.
- Check that the cover and blanking cover are in place and do not rattle when the door is closed/opened.
- After a short ride, re-check that the upholstery is not loosening and that the crank still operates firmly.
5) The most common assembly mistakes + how to avoid them
- Breaking off plastic upholstery clips – use a plastic pry bar and loosen gradually around the perimeter.
- Incorrect positioning of the tie rod/cable – always test the opening several times before folding.
- Squeaking/creaking after assembly – clean the mating surfaces and check that the crank cover is properly seated.
- Non-seated screw cover – check the orientation and do not confuse it with another door cover.
Reasons why the part is damaged
- Fatigue and brittleness of plastic in the interior due to age, temperature changes and UV radiation.
- Frequent use and higher stress on the mechanism (typically in family use).
- Reckless handling – jerkily opening the door or prying when the lock is stuck.
- Damage when disassembling the upholstery (broken handles, cracks in the cover).
