Description
Description
This ABS ESP control module by ATE is designed specifically for the Citroën C5 I series. It integrates the ABS pump and electronic control unit (ECU) in one compact assembly, including a portion of the wiring harness for simplified installation. The module plays a critical role in managing the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic stability program (ESP), preventing wheel lockup and maintaining vehicle stability during dynamic driving conditions.
Function and Importance
The ABS ESP module constantly monitors wheel speed sensors and modulates brake pressure to prevent skidding or loss of control. Over time, wear or electrical faults may cause the module to malfunction, resulting in warning lights and compromised safety. Common causes for failure include moisture ingress, electrical shorts, or mechanical wear of the pump components.
Replacement and Compatibility
The unit is compatible with the first generation Citroën C5 (production years approx. 2001-2008). Proper replacement involves disconnecting the battery, removing the faulty module along with associated hydraulic lines and electrical connectors, and installing the new unit with careful attention to brake fluid and system bleeding after installation to restore full functionality.
