Description

Left front driver’s seat belt for Peugeot 206 and 206+. Color FXX – Black.

Overview

This left front driver’s seat belt with an integrated pyrotechnic pretensioner is a direct-fit replacement for Peugeot 206 and 206+ models. Designed to restore the original occupant restraint function after damage or pretensioner deployment, the assembly includes the retractor, webbing, buckle interface and pretensioner unit. Ideal for professional workshops and DIY mechanics who search by product code (e.g. 96361049XX, 8973SF), this part ensures correct fitment and safety when installed according to manufacturer procedures.

Function

The seat belt assembly secures the driver in the event of a crash. The pyrotechnic pretensioner activates during a collision to remove slack from the webbing almost instantly, improving occupant restraint and working together with the airbag. The retractor contains a locking mechanism that prevents further extension under sudden deceleration.

Installation Recommendations

Always follow safe workshop procedures. Before starting, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait at least 10–15 minutes to allow SRS capacitors to discharge. Remove interior trim to access mounting points, unbolt the lower anchor and retractor mounting bolts (use new bolts where specified), and carefully detach electrical connector(s) for the pretensioner if present. Install the new assembly in the original orientation and torque all fasteners to manufacturer specifications. Reconnect the pretensioner connector, reassemble trim, reconnect the battery and clear any SRS fault codes with an appropriate diagnostic tool. Do not attempt to reuse or service a deployed pretensioner; it is a single-use safety device.

Why This Part Most Commonly Fails

Pyrotechnic pretensioners are typically one-time-use components that activate during a collision; after deployment the entire belt assembly must be replaced. Other common causes of seat belt failure include webbing wear or fraying from frequent use, contamination or jamming of the retractor mechanism, corrosion on mounting points or internal components, and electrical connector damage. Water ingress or prolonged exposure to harsh environments can accelerate degradation of the retractor and pretensioner circuitry.

Notes For Professionals

Because the pretensioner contains a pyrotechnic element and interfaces with the airbag system, installation and SRS diagnostics are recommended to be performed by trained technicians. After replacement, verify proper operation of the retractor, buckle latch and SRS indicator. Replace any mounting hardware that is damaged or shows corrosion to ensure secure attachment.
