Installation Recommendation

Before starting any work, always disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid short circuits. Typical replacement steps:

  1. Remove the interior door trim or triangular trim panel to access the mirror mounting screws and electrical connector.
  2. Support the mirror assembly, then remove the mounting bolts holding the mirror to the door.
  3. Carefully disconnect the electrical connector(s) and extract the old mirror shell.
  4. Fit the replacement shell with electronics, reconnect the electrical connector and loosely fit the mounting bolts.
  5. Reconnect the battery and test all functions (adjustment, folding, heating) before fully tightening fasteners and reassembling door trim.

Use appropriate trim tools to avoid damaging panels. If access is restricted, perform the job on a lift or with the door open wide to gain proper working space. Torque mounting bolts to manufacturer specification where available.

Most Common Causes Of Failure

  • Impact Damage: Collisions or knocks against stationary objects are the leading cause of broken housings and folding mechanisms.
  • Water Ingress And Corrosion: Seals around the mirror can fail, allowing moisture to reach the electronics and connectors, causing intermittent or total failure of adjustment/folding/heating functions.
  • Wear Of Motors And Gears: Repeated operation over many years can wear internal motors or gears, resulting in slow or non-responsive adjustment.
  • Electrical Connector Issues: Corroded or damaged connectors and wiring can interrupt power or signals to the mirror functions.
